L'artista francese SebastiAn condivide il video per il suo ultimo singolo 'Sober' che vede alla voce l'artista emergente londinese Bakar. Il brano è tratto dal suo secondo album Thirst, in uscita domani su Ed Banger Records / Because Music.
Prodotto dalla rinomata casa di moda Saint Laurent e diretto dalla direttrice creativa Nathalie Canguilhem, il video vede la presenza dell'attore francese Félix Maritaud e SebastiAn. Alcune scene del video sono state girate in Turchia, nella città di Mudurnu.
Nathalie afferma: “'Sober' è una metafora visiva per il vagabondare del cervello umano. Un'introspezione sinuosa nel passato di SebastiAn, perso nel mezzo di ripetizioni infinite, incastrato in un labirinto psichedelico, viene attirato dai suoi demoni e si trova costretto a combatterli e combattere sè stesso. Félix Maritaud compare come il suo doppio malizioso, colui che deve affrontare per liberarsi.
SebastiAn, per questo album che riunisce techno europea, elettronica, pop, R&B e soul, ha collaborato con una serie di artisti presenti nei 14 brani, tra cui l'acclamata cantante e attrice Charlotte Gainsbourg (nel 2017 SebastiAn produsse il suo album Rest), il duo pop cult Sparks, la stella nascente di Londra Bakar, Syd dei The Internet e l'artista sperimentale iraniana/olandese Sevdaliza.
SebastiAn ha anche parlato dell'approccio adottato per fare questo album, che deriva dalle sue precedenti esperienze in qualità di produttore con due personalità contrastanti come Frank Ocean e Charlotte Gainsbourg. SebastiAn spiega, "L'ho trovato molto interessante. Il mio album è nato da tutti gli incontri che ho avuto mentre lavoravo a questi due progetti."

Revered French photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino has once again shot the cover art for the album. While for 'Total' he captured SebastiAn as a modern-day Narcissus kissing himself, for 'Thirst' he contrasts this as he photographs him in a desert punching himself.
SebastiAn has been releasing pioneering and acclaimed music via label Ed Banger Records for years. Since his debut album, SebastiAn has also produced for other artists including Frank Ocean, Kavinsky, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Philippe Katerine, Woodkid, and has created remixes for Daft Punk, Kelis, The Kills, Rage Against the Machine and more.
SebastiAn's revolutionary debut featured his signature eclectic combination of sounds - techno, electro, house, funk, soul, pop and classical elements - to create something new and unique. He has also co-produced several film soundtracks including Quentin Dupieux's 'Steak' (2007) - in which he also had a leading role - and Romain Gavras' 'Our Day Will Come' (2010) and 'The World is Yours' (2018), which he produced with Jamie xx.
Outside of traditional music releases, SebastiAn is also heavily involved in (and respected by) the worlds of art and fashion. He recently began a long-lasting collaboration with world-renowned fashion house Saint Laurent and the luxury label's creative director Anthony Vaccarello. He created the sound for most of their catwalk shows and the label produced the visceral visual for 'Thirst', which was directed by Gaspar Noé.
After live dates including Sonar Festival, Barcelona and Osheaga Festival in Montreal so far this year, SebastiAn will be performing at Pitchfork Festival in his native Paris on 2nd November with more tour dates to be announced.
